Davis Family Needs Our Help!

My name is Lisa Miller and I have been a Realtor in AZ for about 13 years now.  I would like to raise money for a very special family that I have become quite close with over the past 10 years or so.

To try and keep this short and sweet...
This family, over the past 6 years, have lost their home due to the economy and a job loss, their daughter was diagnosed with an adolescent onset of a rare form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), the wife was diagnosed with breast cancer (and beat it), lost her Brother and Mother within about one year of each other.

Now, the husband has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Their daughter Samantha:
SMA is a progressive neuromuscular disease that affects the nerves, joints, muscles, and lungs.

She has lost mobility in feet and has weakness in legs, arms, hands, back, neck, and lungs.  She wears custom AFO leg braces that aid in walking for short periods of time and helps stabilize her when standing for short periods of time, mostly around the house.  She uses a wheel chair for any walking that will extend past 10 - 15 minutes.

Also uses a Bi-pap machine to aid in breathing.  This is used nightly and during the day as needed.  Diaphragm is compromised so she cannot breathe and talk.  She also cannot cough productively so any cold or flu is very dangerous.

The disease has progressed to her vocal cords; one vocal cord is now paralyzed the other is weakened. Esophageal muscles are also compromised which makes it difficult to swallow.

This is a progressive disease so constant monitoring and testing is needed to keep up with the nerve and muscle atrophy

She is unable to sit in chairs for any long period of time without pain and legs going numb so spends a vast amount of time confined to her bed to help ease the pain.  She suffers from cramping in legs, arms, hands, neck, and back.

The husband:
He was just diagnosed with late stage metastasized rectal cancer that has spread to his liver and lungs.  Too far progressed for surgery, chemo scheduled to begin on January 25th.  If his body responds to the chemo the doctor said they should be able to prolong his life for 1 - 3 years with constant treatments.

This cancer is not curable, can only prolong life if chemo works.

Work right now is impossible with the pain that he is in and his wife cannot work due to the care giving that she has to give to her husband and daughter.

I would really like to help this family as soon as possible.
One quick story that will stay with me for the rest of my life... When they were losing their home in the NW valley and I came to help try to sell it, the husband walked me out to my car and began to cry... I think he was embarrassed because he went from being an electrical engineer to a fast food maintenance guy.
In his frustration he told me as he started to cry,
"I just want to put food on the table for my family."

These are hard-working people, a good family, that really need your help!  They need money for their mortgage to keep them in the house that they had just bought maybe 6 months before this diagnosis, medical bills - the hospital wouldn't even put in a chemo port unless they paid almost $2,500 upfront!!!

I would be so thankful to be able to help them with some of their expenses and to get through this horrible time in their lives.  And I know they will be so thankful also!!!  They just cannot catch a break - I hope we can try to give them one!!!

They will lose their husband and father in the next 1-3 years.  Let's give them some ability to spend some quality time together before their lives change forever!!!

Please help this family!!!
