Studying abroad in  Florianopolis, Brazil for a year! My name is Davion Johnson, I am a sophomore at California State University, Chico trying to travel the world for this coming up school year. I will be attending Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, and be given the chance to immerse myself in the Brazilian culture. However I come from a low income family that has little to no higher education experience and will be the first person in my family to graduate college. Being so I told myself that I have to grow and develop myself as much as I can while in college. And going abroad would allow me to diversify my outlook on life and politics. I am currently double majoring in Political Science and Public Administration with a double minor in communication and public relations.
People coming from low income families such as mine never take opportunities like this because of the cost. I can not do that to myself! For me to be effective in my future career field I have to be able to understand different walks of life and have many different lenses on life, and going abroad will do this for me. Your contributions would help me pay for the tuition cost, program expenses, plain ticket, insurance, and living costs. The deadline for payment for the program is the 1st of July.
