please let me introduce ourselves, we are David & Rosemarie Jenkins and we have a son David.
David is 33 and has been disabled from a very young age, when he was 4yrs old he was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy complicated by complex partial siezurs which became worse over the years and it took more & more away from him to the point he is unable to talk or walk he uses a wheelchair & is unable to do anything for himself he needs qualified nursing care 24 hours a day to tend to his complex care needs. He has a permanent Trachioestomy & his medication, water, food etc has to be administered through a tube in his stomach.
when he has to travel anywhere hospital appointments family visits or just going out into the community he has to have a suction machine, nebulizer machine & various other medical equipment for a safe journey.
He has had a mobility veichle for several years that was adapted for his health & safty, when he has a siezure we can get to him safely & efficiently, also with this veichle can take David to see extended family & for days out & we are able take him into the community.
Because of Goverment funding cut`s we have been told that because he is in a care home having continouse care by N.H.S nurses he can no longer have the mobility allowance benifit & the veichle must be returned which would seriously affect the little quality of life he has now & confine him to the four wall`s of the care home he resides in because of our own health issue`s.
motability have first refusal on the veichle BUT we must purchase it by the 28th oct 2016 or it will be taken back , we need to raise £7000 to cover the cost & this is the only way we can do this to keep his veichle, we would be eternaly greatful to anyone who can help us to maintain our son`s quality of life. thank you
