On September 8, 2015, David Alan Slazik passed away after a very brief and brave battle with cancer. He was 54 years young.
David was born October 13, 1960 in Syracuse, NY where he lived most of his life, most recently in Fabius, NY. He was a graduate of Westhill High School and their BOCES program which set the foundation for him being a highly skilled and accomplished prototype mold designer and maker, eventually owning and operating his own business, Prototype Tool & Design. He was an active volunteer in the Tully Central School District and was a friend of Bill W.’s who participated in, and was loved by the Fellowship.
Among David’s greatest qualities were his larger than life personality and ability to live life to the absolute fullest. He was always, honest, sincere and able to provide comic relief at any given moment, a characteristic that was always appreciated. He was always predictable and ready to share his infectious smile and laugh. His favorite moments included spending time on Oneida Lake where he was able to share his passion for fireworks. He loved Yogi Bear, sporting his lobster hat and took every opportunity to fill what became affectionately referred to as his “hollow leg” with Twin Trees Pizza. His love of music and his passion for German cars was undisputed. What was disputed was David’s love/hate relationship for his four-legged friend, Oliver.
He is survived by his two beloved children, Matthew and Natalie whom he adored and viewed as his greatest achievement. Along with their mother, Colleen, David always kept his children at the center of everything he did. He is also survived by parents Walter & Adeline Slazik of Syracuse, brothers, Michael (Anny) of Los Angeles, Paul (Kathy) of North Bay; sister, Jeanne (Tom) Michaels of Richmond, VA; several aunts, an uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nephews and a multitude of close friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Slazik Dusse.
100% of this campaign will go towards Matthew and Natalie's education and future endeavors.
