This is an update on my brother-in-law, David Baker. David underwent life-saving surgery yesterday to repair an aortic aneurysm. David and his family are in desperate need of financial assistance during this difficult time.

Yesterday, September 23rd, at 8:15 am., David's 6 hour surgery went well. No complications and no surprises.

He was in ICU recovery for about 20 minutes when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. He was shot with adrenaline to restart his heart, causing his blood pressure to shoot to 300 and severe internal bleeding. He was given an emergency blood transfusion while other life saving measures were administered simultaneously. A defibrillator was then used 4 times, briefly restoring a heartbeat. He continued to code.

Intense CPR was preformed, causing major damage to his sternum, his new aorta, and almost all of the surgeon's work. He was rushed back to the operating room and reopened, where it was discovered he had very little blood. He was given a second blood transfusion, however they were unable to stabilize him. He continued to code and was placed back on a bypass machine.

Eventually, a tiny bloodclot was located in a vein on the right side of his aorta. After resolving this issue, the aorta and other damage was repaired. Blood flow was restored to heart and he stabilized.

4 hrs later, he was back in the ICU recovery room. David was clinicly dead for a total of 8 minutes. This extends the timeline of all information given in the original post. Not only does this greatly prolong his recovery time, but also increases his chances of heart failure, kidney or liver failure, as well as brain injury or brain death. At this time, the surgeon could not give an answer as to when David will be out of the danger zone of these possibilities.
