David's recovery efforts

Donation protected
  • Hi, I'm David's dad, I am starting a fundraiser to help with the medical bills that will come from my son's recovery efforts. Dave was involved in a traffic accident in which he was ejected from the vehicle. His injuries were so severe that he was airlifted from the Schaeffer lake area of Indiana to a hospital in Indianapolis. This is a photo of David from that hospital. The accident happened at the end of July and for the month of August, David was kept in an medically induced coma. Since that time David has been in and out of two other hospitals as his rehabilitation has progressed. At this time we are unsure of how far David will be able to come back. We are being very optimistic about this, but the fact that it is a big deal that David can swallow now gives an idea of how far he has to go. Any funds that are contributed will go to purchase medicine, pay bills, buy a wheelchair, nurses etc ... As David's recovery progresses I will keep you posted. It's going on 3 months and he is bedridden at this time. Thank you, God bless you.

  • Okay .... So WOW....I am feeling blessed I am feeling grateful for the Doctors, nurses, staff at Schwab rehabilitation in Chicago, I have a renewed faith in the power of prayer . It has been maybe a month or so since I last updated David's story. By the grace of God David is home. He has gone from being in a coma
  • This is from the day after the accident to
  • This was from a few months ago. At this point we expected that David would be bedridden and requiring a wheelchair to get around. He still has a neck brace to support his head.
  • The hard work that David was putting in can be seen in his face. When I say that he was giving he was pushing himself to get as well as he could. More weeks of rehab continued
  • David was finally able to eat regular food. This was after he had to learn how to swallow again. Crazy when you think of think about that. He had to learn how to swallow!!!!!
  • So in the last two weeks David has gone from rehab to being released from the hospital. He still has a long road to go to get where he wants to be, but he can see that anything is possible.
  • David wants to say Thank you to everyone who has made a donation, sent a prayer or even a kind thought.
