Hi My name is David -
I am a lover of life! I love my Kitties - I love my guys!
Today I share some tough news. It turns out a recent nose surgery uncovered an aggressive lymphoma cancer. I start Rchop chemo in 6 days. I will be cutting my hair in preparation. It's a very good outlook for successful treatment though. Unfortunately I don't have great insurance and need to do a fund raiser to cover my out of pocket costs which pains me. I am still in shock but dealing as it unfolds. I come from a long line of fighters and I am determined to kick this thing the hell out of my body. Call me determined!
Now the ugly part: I need to raise $35,000 -pretty quickly - I will only be able to work part time for the next 6 months, if at all, and I have no extra benefits as I am contractor at my job less than a year. My spouse William is also a contractor, and we were only able to get the most basic insurance available for contractors with high deductible and high out of pocket maximum. To make it even more complicated, I also just got over a year of physical therapy recovering from a car accident that really messed up my spine which left us not in they greatest financial spot.
Yeah these last few years have been quite the ride!. So yay I can stand up straight but dang now I gotta do the chemo thing!
Our insurance maximum benefit is less than the total cost of the chemo plan. I don't see how that's even possible! AND It goes into next year where I will reach that out of pocket maximum again in the last 2 sessions.
I am determined to work as much as possible but I can't deny that this is far more than we can handle. Should I have to take more time off, it's going to be even worse. I am hopeful for the best, but to really make it happen I need help. I am completely at your mercy.
Who am I? I am David - a QA analyst tech support guy who one day realized he was in a long term three way relationship. My partner Seth has been with me for 26 years, and William joined us 16 years ago. I am amazed today just how well we all work together. It makes me smile today. We have become known as the 'throuple' amongst some friends, but I still groan at the word when I hear it! We have 3 cats - originally so one lap was available for each cat, but it ended up only one cat is the lap cat, and he makes up for the other two!
I will be honest I am a bit dramatic in my life, but our household functions with three people. Those other two will be in a world of confusion without me being there, so I have NO choice but to beat this and get back to supporting my guys as soon as possible. I honestly was worried about sharing this part of my life, but I want to be as open as possible with this endeavor. At this point there is nothing to hide.
I thank you for your consideration in any donation or just friendly support you are willing to provide. It means the world to us.
Love David.
