David Addington Lymphoma Fight
As many of you know, our dear friend David was diagnosed with non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in May 2023. In April, David was experiencing acute stomach pains and also some enlarged lymph glands in his neck and under his arm. At the ER they found a mass on his pancreas and did a biopsy that day. After another biopsy it was determined that he had diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) a form that would be somewhat more difficult to treat. In June he started a chemotherapy treatment of five drugs that were infused every twenty-one days until early October. After another PETscan in November, the oncologist found that some of the cancer was in regression while other lymph nodes now showed some cancer. Since the cancer was resistant to this chemotherapy, they now decided to pursue a newer treatment called CAR T-cell therapy which will use his own immune system to fight the cancer. CAR T-cell therapy removes T-cells from the blood and inserts a new gene into them to make it easier for the T-cells to fight cancer. In December, that process has started with his T-cells being collected and on January 29th the new T-cells will be re-infused into him. This therapy will require at least a 2 week hospital stay so they can watch for any possible complications like neurotoxicity, low blood counts, and cytokine release syndrome. There will be at least 3 months when he comes home where he must limit contact with the outside world, so he can’t go to work or drive for quite some time. Neither David or his partner have been able to work much since the latest treatment has started since he has to be careful not getting any infections. Anything you can give no matter how small will be greatly appreciated. The donations will help to cover the many expenses that have occurred from the numerous tests, treatments, and travel to and from appointments along with some daily expenses that will happen due to the inability to work for the months ahead.
We pray that this therapy will be successful so that their lives can be back to normal and we can enjoy much more love and joy that David and Jeff bring to this world.
Please offer any donations possible to help fight this fight and allow the financial burden this fight brings to be lessoned for our dear friends.
