Emergency Blood Transfusion

(edited 11/12/2019) The previous purpose of this GoFundMe was to help pay the costs of an emergency room stay and related follow-up costs.

David visited the ER in August with stomach pains, severe fatigue, and muscle weakness. He was diagnosed with anemia due to internal bleeding but after an endoscopy showed no damage to his upper GI tract he was denied a colonoscopy, instead being told to make an appointment on his own time with an external clinic. This would have been a $1750 procedure, and as the iron supplements seemed to be helping, we didn't shoulder that particular cost.

In late October into early November, the fatigue returned with a vengeance, along with chills, confusion, and fainting spells. A local low-cost clinic added vitamin D deficiency to the diagnosis, but when his condition didn't improve with those supplements he went back (11/12/2019) and was told to go immediately to the ER and get a blood transfusion, as he has roughly half the amount of blood in his body that he needs to function as a human person. This is also exacerbating the effects of his type 1 diabetes, as half as much blood means half as much glucose. The ER ultimately determined the blood transfusion to be unnecessary, gave him fluids and sent him home.

This is a whole new set of costs, on top of the previous costs we still haven't been able to pay (around $5000), plus more missed work time for both him and his wife.

This is big and it's scary and anything helps. Any donations, sharing the page, anything to help us get David healthy and himself again. Thank you all in advance.
