David’s battle against ALS
Donation protected
On October 25th, 2022 Dave was rushed to the hospital after collapsing in his home. In the months leading up to this he had been seeking treatment for a few ailments. Doctors suggested high blood pressure, some back issues, possible thyroid issues.
Once he arrived in the emergency room it was discovered that his breathing had been compromised for some time. It was lucky he had not died in his sleep. After being admitted to the ICU, Dave was intubated to help his breathing and several tests were run over the next week.
The end result and ultimate diagnosis is unfortunately a worst case scenario. Dave was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Lou Gerig's Disease). Additionally, Dave is a rare case only affecting 5% of people diagnosed with ALS. His muscular degeneration is located in his upper body, affecting his ability to breathe on his own. Which requires him to be on the tracheotomy and a feeding tube for the remainder of his life. Because his respiratory system is already being affected, his life expectancy will be impacted as well.
Dave is a one of a kind, genuine and loving human being. His family, devoted wife, step children and grandchildren all love him immensely. He is deserving of the love we all want to give him and more. He deserves comfort and care as he navigates this new normal.
Your contributions will aid in medical costs leading up to his diagnosis as well as his ongoing rehab care, lost wages, and preparing for what is to come. Everything about his life will be different from this point on.
Most importantly we want to provide Dave with peace of mind. With the ability to spend each day with the people he loves, doing the things he loves to do (Go Patriots!). Your visibility, love, concern, time, and help are all immensely appreciated.
