David Garrison's medical expenses

David Garrison always led an active life.  He played basketball and football in high school and was an amateur weight lifter and aerobics instructor as an adult.  He was a Sergeant and Tact Team Commander at Centralia Correctional Center.  He's been an active member of the Church of Christ for decades. 

 After 10 years of pain, my father, David Garrison Sr., finally decided to have a total knee replacement.  The next day I received the worst phone call of my life.  My Dad, who had always been the strongest person in my life, had suffered a massive stroke.  Since he had a fresh wound, they couldn't give him a clot-busting shot.  He was rushed to SLU, where they broke up the clot surgically.  After a couple of days in Neuro ICU, his brain had swollen so much that the doctor had no choice but to remove a large portion of his skull to prevent further damage.  For weeks he was in and out of consciousness, had repeated bouts of pneumonia, hypertension and a pulmonary embolism.  By some miracle he survived.  He's regained his speech, and has made strides in physical therapy.  But he still can't walk and can barely move the left side of his body.  

The insurance company won't pay for more time in a nursing home.  We will need to buy a hospital bed and other medical equipment, a wheelchair van, and completely renovate his bathroom for him to live at home.  His insurance will only cover a portion of the hospital bed and medical equipment.  He was forced to retire and his pay will soon be cut.  Please help us raise money to care for a man who always cared for others.
