My name is David Coates and I am 36 years old living in Traverse City, Michigan. I have lived here all my life, worked here all my life and grown up in the communities surrounding. This is my story and why you have found yourself looking at this page in the first place.
On September 17th I was admitted to the hospital for what I would call "Heart Burn" no other symptoms. I had several blood tests done which showed heart distress. After numerous tests and several days in the hospital I was told that I had 90% blockages in both main arteries of my heart. More tests were done and it was found by doctors that I had jagged arteries in my heart that caused the build up of material to block them off. The doctors speculated that this could have been caused by a virus at some point in my life but the real cause is unknown. They were unable to stint the vessels because of the danger of blood clots and more severe complications. Completely scared out of my skin I was scheduled for open heart surgery.
Thursday September, 26 I was taken in for open heart surgery and the surgery was a success which in turn saved my life. I remained in the hospital for 4 days following and was monitored and then sent home as everything looked good and I had met all the criteria to be able to be sent home.
Now brings me to why this page was created in the first place. I have worked all my life like many people paycheck to paycheck most of the time. I live alone here in Traverse City and I work at The Home Depot. I am unable to return to my job at Home Depot until I go through cardiac rehab and get my strength back and my chest heals to the point where I am not in danger of a re-fracture of my sternum. Doctors estimated this at 4 months as bones take a significant time to heal. I spent what small amount of savings I had on bills and responsibilities while I was in the hospital. I have contacted Social Security, Unemployment, and numerous other charities for help and I do not qualify for help from any of them leaving me in this predicament.
Bills are still coming in and I am still responsible for them. I have nothing left financially and am in need of help. I have never asked for help or anything in my life monetarily but in order to survive for the next 4 months of my life I cannot do it without help from hopefully anyone who took the time to read my story. The combination of all of my household bills (taxes, insurance, electric, gas, trash) and my other important bills (car payment, car insurance, cell phone, food) totals almost exactly 1000 dollars a month. I have always been happy to work and do everything off of my own back but this time I cannot do this alone. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated because honestly this is pretty much my last resort at salvaging my credit and being able to pick my life back up where I left off a month ago.
