I never imagined I would be here—asking for help.
For more than 35 years, I built my career in the construction and civil engineering industry on hard work, integrity, and leadership.
I’ve always provided for my family, stood on my own two feet, and taken pride in doing the right thing.
But one contract changed everything.
What Happened
When I secured a contract with BlueScope Steel, I believed it was another step forward in my career.
Instead, it became the most damaging experience of my life.
During my time on site, I was subjected to ongoing workplace hostility that no professional should ever have to endure.
I was:
- Publicly humiliated and undermined by my Project Director in front of colleagues and subcontractors.
- Verbally abused within my own office environment, with no meaningful support but instead snowballed as the perpetrator was the Project Directors favourite.
- Systematically isolated and “gaslit” on safety issues, making it increasingly difficult to perform my role.
- Left unsupported while raising concerns, with management effectively turning a blind eye and covering up mismanagement by the Construction Manager adding in $100k by one contractor.
I tried to handle everything professionally. I spoke up. I followed process.
It didn’t matter.
Behind the scenes, decisions were being made.
Despite my attempts to address these issues professionally and respectfully, the situation escalated and my manager and project director secretly schemed for my removal whilst I was on leave.
Then, first day back, without proper process, notice, or fairness, I was removed from site and effectively terminated.
No warning. No contractual procedural fairness. No accountability.
The Personal Toll
What followed has been devastating—not just professionally, but personally.
The experience has had a profound impact on my mental and physical health:
- I struggled with anxiety, stress, and loss of confidence
- My physical health declined significantly
- I found myself turning to alcohol as a coping mechanism
- I gained weight and fell into habits I had never experienced before
This wasn’t just a job loss—it was a complete disruption of my life. I went from being a strong, capable professional… to barely recognising myself.
The Financial Impact
Standing up to a large corporation comes at a cost.
Being wrongfully removed from the contract has caused:
- Significant loss of income.
- Ongoing legal costs to pursue justice.
- Mounting financial pressure on my household.
As someone who has always worked hard to provide for my family, this has been incredibly difficult.
I am fighting—but the reality is simple:
They have unlimited resources. I do not!
The Impact on My Family
This hasn’t just affected me—it has affected the people I love most.
My family has had to endure:
- Emotional stress from seeing me struggle
- Financial uncertainty and pressure
- The strain that comes from fighting a long and exhausting legal battle
- The near end of my 30yr marriage with the most beautiful person ever.
This situation has tested us in ways I never thought possible. No family should have to go through this.
Why I’m Fighting
I’m not just doing this for myself.
I’m standing up because no one should be treated this way in the workplace, especially by a large corporation that should know better.
This fight is about:
- No one should be treated this way in the workplace
- Large corporations must be held accountable
- Other contractors deserve protection from similar treatment
- Fair treatment to all
- Ensuring other local contractors don’t go through the same experience
When BlueScope find themselves in situations like this they have a Modus Operandi of:
- Secure the most expensive and vicious Counsel available.
- Unlimited funds to drag it out so long that the victim either runs out of money, accepts a low ball offer or commits suicide.
- Never admit liability or wrong doing.
- Offer less than you are due to end the action sooner with non disparaging/confidentiality clauses so that it never reaches the media.
- Protect their client and their brand at all costs.

The legal process is long, complex, and expensive. I am doing everything I can—but I can’t do it alone.
