We are filing an immediate appeal to protect our electoral win, and we need your help.

Machine Democrats are trying to effectively overturn the victory of the newly-elected progressive Democratic representatives, in a winner-take-all race of the establishment’s design.

On June 10, Democrats in Cherry Hill voted 62% to 38% to elect 3 grassroots Democratic organizers and community leaders and to oust 74 incumbent machine Democrats from the Cherry Hill Democratic Committee.

The #CherryHill3 of the South Jersey Progressive Democrats now comprise the full membership of the Cherry Hill Democratic Committee (CHDC). After our victory was secured, we, the CHDC, immediately began an open and transparent process to fill the remaining 71 seats on the committee, as is our responsibility under New Jersey law.

But machine Democrats are using their deep pockets in an attempt to stop the change that Cherry Hill Democrats voted for. They have taken us to court to force us to associate with and appoint 71 members of their *losing slate* to the CHDC, essentially overturning the election results.

Prior to our hearing, New Jersey’s Attorney General Matt Platkin took the extraordinary step of filing an amicus brief siding with us. Senator Andy Kim said, “I grew up in Cherry Hill and it’s heartening to see growing political participation that will give the people more choice in their democracy. I congratulate and wish the Camden County Progressive Democrats well as they take the helm of the Democratic committee in my old home town.”

Despite Platkin’s filing, the plain language of NJ law, and common sense, on July 11 a Camden County judge ruled in favor of the machine. (Our preliminary count is he also interrupted our attorney 53 times during oral argument).
