David Taylor: hope for a strong finish.

Most of you know him as Dave, Coach Taylor or Brother Taylor. David has told me, his greatest privilege is being called husband, dad, or friend. David has also always bragged about being called Coach Dave. He told me he called his players troops, man child, mighty might’s, bud or maybe a number you had on your back would get your attention.
Dave has always had only 2 gears: intense and extreme and he has a huge heart. David loves with all his heart. His family loves him for the great times they have shared. David loves his wife, family, and friends intensely and cherishes the memories he has made with every one of you.
David has worked hard all his life, doing everything he could to provide for his family and friends. Things have been hard at times but David and LaVon have always found a way to make ends meet for their children.
David is a veteran who served his country years ago both as a soldier and as a civilian contractor in Iraq. 20 years ago, he met his beautiful wife LaVon. She introduced him to Jeff Johnson, her employer at the time, who helped him into the career he has enjoyed for the past 20 years.
David was diagnosed with a terminal Glioblastoma early in 2019. He has fought valiantly since then enduring various rounds of chemo and any other treatments they offered. The past few months have been especially difficult with the tumor returning, a stroke and numerous seizures. On the 5th of August, the doctors determined there was nothing else they could do and the family brought David home where he was put on hospice care. The doctors anticipated he did not have a lot of time left on this earth before returning to his heavenly home.
For various unfortunate reasons, David has no life insurance or funds to help during this difficult and expensive time. LaVon felt she needed to be by David’s side, so she quit her job at the post office and became his caretaker. Logan is getting ready to go on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years at his own expense. Hunter is a senior in high school. She has had some help from family and social security but she is barely making it. Once David passes from this life to the next, LaVon will be stuck with no job and her social security will stop. She has family doing what they can but with the grief and bills she will be in a huge deficit. David, with little time left is asking and praying that his friends can help offset her struggle. David’s wish is to be buried in St. George Utah. The funeral cost and transportation for LaVon and her boys are just a few of the bills that are exceeding her financial abilities. We are hoping for anything that might help her reach the goal of $20,000. This will see her through her first month of grief, pay the bills for David’s funeral and some of the expenses for the past year. We appreciate anything that is offered especially love and support – we can all use love and support. Thank you for taking the time to read this story of my Brother.
Sincerely, Sean and the Family
