David Sutton’s Lymphoma Journey
Donation protected
Join David and Felecia Sutton on their journey, finding beautiful in sudden, difficult change. David was taken to the ER on September 29, 2021 after some blood tests found significant problems. He had near complete kidney failure with 5% kidney function left. After further testing it was discovered that the kidney failure was due to Lymphoma. David stayed in the hospital for two and a half more weeks receiving transfusions, scans, biopsies and numerous other tests. He also received his first chemotherapy treatment and began dialysis. David was released briefly and then readmitted twice during the next week for high fevers with no apparent cause. Treating the cancer is complicated by his failed kidney function. He is receiving dialysis three times a week and chemotherapy is planned at least for the next several months.
David’s nurses during his long stay at the hospital were wonderful!
Life has changed for them, but they are trying to find beauty in community, faith, and in all the small moments. Sitting in the parking lot of the ER (no visitors in ER), Felecia saw a beautiful fall tree, still full of orange, red and green leaves. She watched it during the next two ER visits as it started dropping its leaves. She was reminded that God is control of the seasons and indeed all things, and there is beauty and good to be found. They know this is a new, harder, season for them and they are keeping an eye out for beauty in change.
My name is Julia McMahan, and I am David and Felecia’s daughter. My brother, Joseph, and I are starting this giving campaign for our parents in hopes that as a community, we can all share in their journey, the ups and downs, highs and lows. Right now financial resources are running low. Dad is unable to work for the foreseeable future, and while mom does work part-time that isn’t enough to cover all their expenses. The funds raised will help them pay the mortgage, living expenses and fix their car, so that Dad has reliable transportation to Bellingham and back. We want to help get them through the months ahead of unemployment, treatments and possible permanent disability.
Thank you for your support! Your generosity is part of the beauty found in these hard places!
