David Suarez Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
On Wednesday night my husband, David Suarez, took his own life. He was suffering from some serious health issues for over year. As a result he was not able to qualify for life insurance and also because of his medical issues we did not have a savings built up.

I met David in 2009 on an app. He was living in Las Vegas working as a photojournalist for KLAS and I was living in El Paso getting ready to move to Austin. It was a worldwide romance over the internet. After chatting online and on the phone for 6 months we decided to meet in person. I flew to Las Vegas for my birthday and the rest is history. He left Las Vegas and we started our life in Austin.

He worked in Austin at several of the news stations and covered some major stories. He was an expert photojournalist and an amazing photographer. Thanks to him we have amazing photos of our family's adventures. He loved my two boys as his own. He has a special relationship with my younger son, Jacob. He felt he had the "eye" for photography and spent a lot of time taking him out and teaching him his craft.

In 2014 we came back to El Paso to take care of my mother who was diagnosed with cancer. Without hesitation he moved our family to El Paso and supported all of us during this difficult time. He was always the rock that took care of things in the background. He did so without complaint and without a break. Sometimes ignoring his own pain and health issues to make sure we were taken care of.

In 2017 he lost his job. Shortly thereafter he began to feel ill. He was in and out of the hospital for several months until the doctors finally figured out what the problem was in December. He had several surgeries to fix the issue but after was not the same. Due to his extensive medical issues we realized that he would not be able to work. For a man that was defined by his work this news broke him. The illness he could deal with but the loss of his ability to provide for his family devastated  him. He was very depressed these past few months and although he was getting treatment it was not helping fast enough.

I am still in disbelief that my partner in crime will no longer be sending me funny text messages and videos. He won't be able to show Jacob the finer points of digital photography. El Paso lost a true gem of a man and an amazing photojournalist.

I hope his friends and family can come together and give him a memorial that celebrates the life he lived. All proceeds will be used for funeral costs and any extra will go to paying his medical bills and support for his family.
