David Stuebner, long time resident of Waller County, starting on July 3rd had a series of strokes. After almost a month in the hospital he was transferred to TIRR. Medicare will only pay for 30 days treatment at TIRR. In Galveston is one of the foremost rehabilitation facility for head injuries and stroke patients in the country. Insurance considers this facility as exceptional treatment and will not pay for it.
The Learning Center of Galveston provides six hours of therapy every day. There is one staff person for every two patients. Everyone is very closely watched.
However this exceptional care comes at an exceptional cost. The daily rate for care is $1,100.00. In order for David to achieve the fullest recovery possible he needs to be at this facility. He has made great progress but still has a long way to go. He is as brilliant as ever and still has his dry sense of humor.
We need help in order to provide two more months of therapy for David.
