It was with deep sadness that I learned the news that I lost my youngest son David Skailes suddenly on June 19, 2024.

We had an intimate funeral for David a few weeks after his passing with immediate family members, which allowed us to face the loss of this beautiful soul from our lives and begin the journey of learning to live without his physical presence in our lives. David touched many people throughout his life, his extended family in Victoria, cousins, and a community of friends that shared many memories with David over his almost 44 years of life, primarily on Vancouver Island. David attended Craigflower elementary school and Esquimalt High School. He worked in the building industry and made lifelong friends that he shared many memories with over the many years and contracts he worked with

We now want to offer to David’s community of friends and family an opportunity to celebrate the lovely man he was, his humor, his joy of being alive, his challenges and how he used them to evolve his wisdom that he so generously shared.

The funds received for this event will be used to cover costs and possibly assist with travel costs for those to attend from out of town. We will also be donating 20% of all contributions to The Umbrella Society https://www.umbrellasociety.ca/ which David found great support in, and Moms Stop the Harm https://www.momsstoptheharm.com/ for the good work they are doing to keep our loved ones safe from toxic drugs.

We are hosting David’s Celebration of Live on the Anniversary of his passing, June 19, 2025, at Sands Funeral Chapel from 1:30 to 4:30 at 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria. There will be plenty of opportunities to mingle and share stories individually or with the group, which will be officiated from 2 to 3 or 3:30. We will be serving refreshments and a light lunch.
