Our dad, David Siegrist, has recently passed away in his home, from self-inflicted wounds. He was the full-time caretaker for his wife, who is living with Huntington’s disease. We, his daughters Breanna and Cassandra, are raising funds to cover his loss of life arrangements and to give ourselves time to grieve as well as handle the legal and physical realities at hand.
Our hearts are broken. On September 16th, our father, David, took his own life. We are still in shock, trying to find our footing while the ground feels like it’s fallen away.
Our dad was so much more than this unexpected ending. He was a dedicated caretaker in every sense of the word for many years. He was the full-time 24/7 caregiver for his wife, who lives with Huntington’s disease. His love was steady, quiet, and sacrificial. He gave so much of himself to the people he loved, even when it took a toll on him. He exhausted his own financial capabilities due to full-time caretaking responsibilities.
We are reaching out with GoFundMe as a way for our family and friends to help us with financial support, as we have a lot of unexpected expenses to deal with, as well as funeral costs.
Now, in the wake of his passing, we — his daughters, Breanna and Cassandra — are faced with carrying not only the grief of losing our father, but also the many responsibilities that follow. We are asking for support to help us with the following:
• Lay him to rest with dignity and respect.
• Take time off from work so we can grieve, make arrangements, and support our family.
• Costs of packing and storing his belongings, including his home's rental agreement requirements.
• Cover gas, travel, lodging, and basic costs that come with gathering loved ones and managing the details no one is ever ready for.
This is not easy to share. But we want to tell the truth, because what happened is heavy and real, and because we believe our dad’s life deserves to be honored fully — both his struggles and his love.
Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, will help lift some of the weight we are carrying. It allows us to step back from the pressure of bills and work and instead be present with one another in our grief.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for holding us, for standing with us, and for helping us give our dad the farewell he deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Breanna & Cassandra Siegrist
