David Sapelak's Medical Bills

Hi, this is Chris. I am David's sister. As many of you know, David has suffered from debilitating back pain for 20+ years due to a couple of accidents in the past. He has already had one unsuccessful back surgery, but the pain remained. In a last-ditch effort, he decided to go through with a total spinal fusion to correct his back injury. Last week, he endured a 20-hour surgery over the course of two days. His doctor basically replaced his whole spine and vertabrae. It is one of the most intensive surgeries you could ever have. He has multiple incisions in his abdomen and back, 2 rods, and 24 screws. He will be in the hospital for at least another week, and will then transfer to a rehab center for a couple of weeks for therapy. Once he gets home, he will have to continue with physical therapy for who knows how long. All in all, it will take about a year to fully recover. David has been on disability for a little while and cannot work, so he has very limited income. He does have medical insurance, but of course, there will be a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. He will also have to pay for all of his co-pays for physical therapy and follow-up doctor visits. In addition, he will need gas money going to and from his appointments. This will add up quickly over the next year. If anyone feels led to donate towards his medical bills, anything would be appreciated.
