We are saddened by the world's loss of a special soul. David Hicks was a kind, caring, and hilarious person who knew no enemies and was most at peace in his garden. David Steven Hicks, 75, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept 16th in Orlando, FL after a long and brave journey with many health challenges.

Born in Chicago to the late Cecil Hicks and Sarah Lyons (nee Brennan), David spent most of his life in Florida as an avid gardener, talented painter, and dedicated aquarist. He will be remembered most for his kindness, wit, and happy disposition.

Former Sergeant in the Army, David was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he took pride in his professional career of designing and planning security systems for businesses.

Devoted husband to Cyndi (nee Mello) for 24, inseparable years. They shared a love for travel - but equally enjoyed their time together at home and with family.

Beloved father of Jay Bednar and Eric (Karen) Bednar. Grandfather to Bella, Xavier, and Sarina Bednar.

Cherished brother to Linda (Mike) D'Amico, Robert (Debra) Hicks, Cindy (Bob) Carroll, the late Kathleen Shields, Kevin (Julie) Hicks, Larry (Kimi) Lyons, and Cathy (Mike) Corich. Fond Brother in law of Frank (Katherine) Mello, Joe (Deb) Mello, the late Maryann (Donald) Tetreault, Eileen (the late John) Sylvia.

Dearest uncle of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
