We are starting this GoFundMe to help the members of the Nordic Mountain Ski Patrol help support the Gerrits family during this difficult time. Both Gina and Zayda are members of the patrol so their family is our family. Feel free to share with anyone outside the patrol who wishes to help support the Gerrits family.

David Robert Gerrits, 45, of Weyauwega, WI, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2022.

David was born on June 5, 1977, in Appleton, WI, to David Gerrits and Jeanne (Frank) Rhodes.

On June 21, 2003, David married the love of his life, Gina Brux. Together they have raised 2 beautiful children, Zayda and Ethan.

David loved his family and together they enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially Sturgeon Spearing and the Spring Walleye Run, camping and were members of the Waupaca Chain Skiers for 5 years.

Together, Gina and David really enjoyed sneaking away to the casino and “cocktailing”. David took great pride in the family hobby farm where many cherished memories have been made. The best times are the times spent together. David was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He spent his career of 25 years working for Amcor.

David is survived by his parents, his children, siblings; Amy (Jed) Sprangers, Tim (Heather) Gerrits and Travis (Gacia) Rhodes, mother-in-law Kay Remme, brother-in-law Brian Brux, sister-in-law Shari Brux, and many other family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for all of the love and support they have received from friends, family, and the community thus far.

Visitation for David will take place at Wichmann Funeral Home (537 N. Superior St., Appleton, WI 54911) on Wednesday, January 4, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and followed by a brief Celebration of Life at 5:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
