Help David Garringer rebuild his life. After a Career-Ending Injury in May of 2023, my husband David, a CSX railroad conductor and proud SMART -TD union member, was seriously injured while working in a Rochester, NY rail yard. What began as a routine shift became a life-changing tragedy. Since then, we has endured five surgeries and he faces amputation of his leg below the knee on November 21st.
David's injury ended his railroad career and has left us struggling to stay afloat. Medical bills have been piling up for over a year and a half, with no assistance from the railroad, and CSX has informed us that his medical coverage will be cut off on December 31st.
To regain his independence after surgery, David's doctors have prescribed a custom motorized wheelchair, but because he stands at 6'8", standard medical equipment won't work. The specialized chair he needs will cost roughly $5,000 and he must have it ready before surgery.
We're asking for help from friends, family, the Buffalo community, and all who believes in helping a neighbor in need. David has lost his career and soon his leg in the service of the railroad. Let's make sure he doesn't lose his mobility or quality of life, too.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings him one step closer to recovery and independence. Please help my husband get the specialized wheelchair he needs and share his story.
