David "Meatball" Yeager Liver Transplant

David Yeager, Meatball, UD, son, brother, husband, father, friend or whatever he is to you requires a liver transplant as soon as possible. No one in the family could have foreseen this coming as he was healthy and fishing like a madman a short time ago. For those that have seen him recently know the condition he is in now.

Him and his amazing wife Margaret have been searching for answers for months as to what was causing his illness, chasing doctors, appointments, and every test under the sun desperately trying to determine what was causing his problems.

Well it would seem they have found the answers and they are not what anyone wanted to hear. David has Cirrhosis of the liver caused by a genetic disorder. The condition is incurable and life threatening and David will need a liver transplant.

David and Margaret are now working with the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit which is the leader in liver transplants in Michigan. Living in Ludington 4 hours from Detroit makes getting to and from appointments obviously very difficult and costly. Being self employed and unable to work is putting an EXTREME financial burden on his family and his wife Margaret is also being forced to miss excessive amounts of work getting David to and from appointments and the process is just starting. Once a liver is found, the amount of time they will need to spend in Detroit will be VERY substantial and David will obviously not be able to work.

We all know the ridiculous cost of health care these days and at this point all we can do is guess at the staggering amount this is going to cost and keep costing for the rest of his life. There will be a new normal in his world and that in itself for those that know him is going to be uphill battle. I am asking that we ALL pull together to relieve at least a portion of the financial burden this is going to place on his family.

I know we all have our own versions of how David has influenced our lives, but here is mine. 

Uncle Dave has been the single most influential person in my life. He treated me like a son growing up, selflessly showing me all the ways of the outdoor world. Having patience in dragging a slow moving kid through the woods and up trees and giving me experiences and memories that I could never forget. Spending countless hours out on the Little Devil whether it be fishing tournaments or running charters absolutely killing it teaching me that hard work and a no second place mindset can drive you to success. He is a good man, my uncle, and I love him and am asking for help for him and his family.

I should also mention that he could not possibly have a better woman by his side through this than his wife Margaret.
