My name is Cody Pratt, son of David Pratt. In April 2022, David was rushed to South Shore Hospital, citing pain in his arm. As a shock to all of us, blood tests were taken during his examination, and it was discovered that he had Leukemia.

It was unclear at the time of the diagnosis whether or not a bone marrow transplant would be in the cards. To start, the doctors provided us with a plan for the next few months, which consisted of weekly visits to Dana Farber, blood transfusions, and a continued increased dose of chemo.

In the months that have followed, David's health has sadly declined. What started as one visit a week to Dana Farber has now become two or sometimes three. There have been overnight hospital stays during this period, as well as a portable pouch of chemo administered regularly throughout the day.

In August 2022, David informed us that the doctors would like to proceed with the bone marrow transplant. This will be a serious effort to attack Leukemia (bad blood cells). It was explained to all of us the seriousness of this procedure, the details of it, and the period of recovery that follows.

My Dad is a hard-working business owner who, for the last 40+ years, has served The South Shore (Massachusetts) area as a reputable General Contractor. His work is his life. The decline of his health these last five months has significantly impacted his business.

Now, with what is expected to be a four-week stay in the hospital following his bone marrow transplant on August 24th and another three to six months for at-home recovery, he is in danger of losing his business and home.

Those of you who know my Dad from work, the golf course, or his Wednesday night sailing league know that he would do anything for anyone else before himself.
