David Poston --medical bills and related expenses
Donation protected
Hi! This is Mike Bennett. I've been a close friend of David since we were in the trombone section of the Woodlawn High School (Baton Rouge) band many (many!) years ago.
David has run into a bit of trouble lately. During a recent stay in the Philippines, his health deteriorated to the point he had to be hospitalized. Unfortunately, foreigners in the Philippines are limited to using private, non-government-supported hospitals that are actually more expensive than American hospitals.
Here's the kicker: Medicare won't cover the bills he ran up there, so he had to quickly cobble together the money to cover the hospital bills -- and still had to make the decision to forego two needed emergency medical operations (a gall bladder removal and an endocrine surgery) for lack of money.
Family, friends, and neighbors have done what they can and David was able to leave the hospital (they wouldn't permit him to leave without being paid in full), and further, we were able to get him an emergency flight back to Baton Rouge -- but there is so much more to do.
The emergency operations still need to be done, and we hope to have some participation with a local charity, but there are many expenses that will not be covered with what has been donated, and loans from people who cannot afford it.
So, what I am asking for, on David's behalf, is enough donations to 1) get David's immediate medical operations expenses paid for, and 2) reimburse expenditures already made on David's behalf by kind (but not wealthy) folks mostly from funds they cannot afford to miss or were obtained on credit.
I don't know how much that will be in total, but I am hoping that $10,000 amount will do. ALL donations to David's cause will be greatly appreciated, whatever the amount.
Thank you very much for your generosity, and please feel free to reach out to me for any other information you may need to accommodate a donation.
