David Needs You: Cancer's Financial Impact

Hello, my name is David Fiori and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share my story. For most of my life, I was the epitome of energy. I was always active, hiking in the mountains, playing sports, and living life to the fullest. Nature was my playground, and pushing myself physically was a way of life. I found joy in the challenge and the peace of the outdoors, whether it was the serenity of a mountain trail or the rush of a sports competition.

That all changed when I was diagnosed with head and neck cancer.

At first, I couldn’t believe it. How could someone who was always so full of life and energy suddenly find themselves facing a battle for survival? But here I am, fighting every single day.

The diagnosis has been overwhelming. I’ve had to learn to cope with not only the physical toll but also the emotional weight of this fight. The past few months have been a blur of doctor’s appointments, treatments, and trying to hold onto hope. I am now undergoing radiation and chemotherapy five days a week, each treatment leaving me weaker but also determined to keep going. The side effects are relentless — the pain, the exhaustion, the nausea — but I have found strength I never knew I had.

This fight has forced me to take a step back from everything I once loved. Hiking, sports, even simple walks outside have become too much. But the one thing I hold onto is the hope that I’ll get back to those things someday. I want to be able to feel the sun on my face, the wind at my back, and the joy of conquering a trail once more. I want to get back to the person I was before cancer took over my life.

The financial burden of my treatments has been heavy. With the ongoing expenses for radiation, chemotherapy, and medications, I’ve found it difficult to make ends meet. The cost of living, coupled with the inability to work during this difficult time, has been overwhelming. That’s why I’m asking for your help.
