Lands End to John O’Groats Ultra Run Fundraiser

Donation protected
I am embarking on one of the toughest challenges of my life, aiming to complete the Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) Ultra Run, covering 854 miles in just 17 days. This means averaging 50 miles a day without any rest days. It’s definitely going to be the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but I’ll be driven on by the hope that I’ll be raising funds for really worthwhile causes.

I’ve decided to raise funds and split the money raised 50/50 between two charities that are close to my heart, one local and one international.

The first charity I’m hoping to raise funds for is a local initiative dedicated to building a playpark in John O’Groats in the memory of Julie McGee (Gates) who tragically passed away very suddenly in 2021. The young mum of 2 was a well known and well loved member of the local community in John O’Groats who had a passion for sports and all things fun, and this project is a fitting memorial to Julie, and will be a legacy which will benefit not only the local community, but the wider community of Caithness as well as the tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors to the area each year.

The second charity I’m raising funds for is Medical Aid for Palestinians. What’s going on in Gaza at the moment is heartbreaking and deplorable. Like most people I feel completely powerless to do anything about it. By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise funds that can help alleviate some of the suffering faced by those affected. Every contribution counts and can make a difference.
Together, we can bring hope and change lives. For more details about this charity please see the link below:

I grew up in John O’Groats, a place that has always been very close to my heart. As a boy, I would often see people doing the end-to-end journey, and ever since, I’ve dreamed of attempting it myself. I’m not getting any younger, and with life finally giving me the opportunity, I’m determined to seize the moment and take this on. It has also aligned with two urgent and worthwhile causes that I am passionate about supporting, and I am determined to raise as much as I can for them.

My target therefore is to try to raise £5,000. Your support means everything to me and to those who will benefit from these two charities.
