Over this last weekend our Uncle David (otherwise known as David Mooney) was being treated for what he thought was a pinched nerve in his back. While we were visiting him, his health deteriorated rapidly and we took him to the emergency room where we were to get the shock of our lives. Our precious Uncle didn't have a pinched nerve but was suffering from multiple cancerous lesions on his spine, a huge mass in his lungs, multiple blood clots and a cancer that has now spread to his inner spine including his skull.
To many of you he his has been a close colleague, a beloved teacher, a faithful and loyal friend, a person of great faith, a trusted follower of Christ, a fellow actor in commercial and television, and a mentor to countless students that were blessed to call him Mr. Mooney. He is the person that inspired you to reach for something better in life and taught you how to be the best at whatever you were pursuing.
One of his disappointments throughout this ordeal is that he will miss his students and the ability to help shape them and guide them toward a brighter future. He depended on that opportunity to help him as well to supplement his income. Now, it seems that for a while, he may not be able to have the strength to continue to do what he loves so much.
We need your help. David needs your help. Your help will allow him to stop worrying about the bills, and concentrate on beating this health crisis that left him in total shock.
We are asking everyone that David or "Mr. Mooney" has touched in any way to give whatever you can to help him pay the medical bills that are looming in the immediate future. It will also go to possibly hire someone to help him maintain his household duties and take care of him when his strength may not allow him the ability to cook or clean. To take this burden off of him will allow him to concentrate all his faith and his strength on beating this.
Would you help us in whatever way you can? We say thanks already with a grateful heart for every penny that is given to our "Uncle David" as he faces this with the grace, humility, and humor in which he faces every other challenge in life.
By the way just so you know David's nephew James (Jim) Searcy is set up as the beneficiary so he can take care of Uncle David's finances until he is well enough to do so himself again. I wanted everyone to know who that was and how close they are. We love Uncle David with all our hearts.
