David's Seminary Fund

It's the largest leap of faith in my life: I've left behind the hills of my native West Virginia to attend seminary at Andover Newton Theological School, near Boston. I'm 2/3 of the way through my program, as I pursue ordination in the Unitarian Universalist Association.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Thanks to the generous support I received in my two years of seminary, I was able to--

* focus on my schooling, and get straight A's all  semesters

* preach and minister at SEVEN area Unitarian Universalist churches

* be a regular preacher at MCC Boston (part of the Metropolitan Community Church denomination, which has a unique outreach to the LGBT/Q community)

* help my school host Rev. William Barber of the Moral Movement in North Carolina, help coordinate work between Rev. Barber and the Unitarian Universalist Association, and represent my school in our contingent at the Moral March in Raleigh.

* attend various workshops, on topics ranging from pastoral care in times of trauma to creating emotionally healing worship services

* lead worship and Bible studies on campus with the student Unitarian Universalist, United Church of Christ, and Baptist fellowships

* serve as Vice-President of BGLANTS, my seminary's LGBT/Q fellowship, my first year

*serve this past year as Co-Worship Coordinator of UUCANS, the campus UU community, and serve on the Leadership Team

* stand on stage with The Sanctuary Boston as they lead the UUGA in Providence in a rousing worship that everyone's been talking about

* complete my Field Education as student intern at The Crossing: a dynamic emerging worship community in the Episcopal tradition.

My upcoming senior year brings, of course, new expenses.
