David Maurice George Funeral
Donation protected
David Maurice George, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and proud U.S. Veteran, passed early Sunday morning on January 22, 2017 at the age of 33.
David was born on December 18, 1983 in Baltimore, MD, USA, a fact he constantly reminded his Peruvian born brothers. He attended schools in MD, Brookhaven Elementary School, Farquhar Middle School, Sherwood High School and then Valley Forge Military Academy in PA.
He joined the Army shortly after 9/11 in 2001 and served proudly with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles” out of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.
He dedicated his life to many pursuits including film production, photography, music, and his most prominent involvement with the David Lynch Foundation and Transcendental Meditation and it’s use to ease the suffering of veterans with PTSD, including his own.
He played drums, while I was on vocals and guitar. Our last song together was System of a Down’s “Toxicity”, inspired to do so after watching a 6 year old girl play the drums on Facebook. After a couple of tries, we killed it. It was awesome. He was so happy.
My little brother suffered with PTSD and struggled to find a solution all the years after leaving the military, not really knowing what was going on in his head, having to find out himself. He went through a lot of bad times, a lot of good times, a lot of horrible times, all the while our mom suffered and took the mental abuse but never lost hope that her little boy was in there somewhere. I never lost hope that my happy little brother that I used to play with was in there somewhere.
In the past 6 months, he crossed a line. He was happy to live again. I thought he had made it. We were little boys again. No one truly knows what’s inside. He didn’t make it.
Our whole family is in shock. My mom is the strong woman she has always been. She lost her husband 2 years ago, and her brother-in-law, father and son within one year.
This fund is going directly to her to help pay funeral costs and other financial challenges she and our family may still face. We know there are a lot of David’s friends around the country that knew him well and loved him like a brother that can’t make the memorial but would like to contribute.
Thank you in advance for your well wishes and generosity.
