David Mahler is in the hospital
David Mahler, our favorite Chef of the Jungle, had a serious accident while hiking in his new home, Costa Rica, and is now in the Hospital Labradores in Perez Zeladon.
Here's his description of his nasty injury (we'll spare you the photos, but feel free to contact him if you desperately need to see them):
"You’ve all seen the good side of the river but I am now experiencing the not-so-good side. I cracked my shin open falling in the river the other day and picked up a bacterial infection that has given me cellulitis, a particularly gnarly fast-moving infection all through my lower left leg. Google it and prepare to gasp."
David is optimistic and in good spirits, as always. He'll be in the hospital a little less than a week and will need to continue outpatient treatment until the infection is gone. Unfortunately, his U.S. medical insurance is of no use in Costa Rica, and he is not yet a permanent resident there so he is not entitled to their national health services
In short, the Chef is going to need some dough. (Please pardon the pun.)
He'll need at least $2,500 to take care of these medical bills. He didn't ask for any financial help, but he can't work right now so I offered to set up this GoFundMe page. If you can toss in a few bucks, it would be great. If not, your good wishes are always welcome.
Thanks!
