David Long: A Public Record- Songs and Stories

Donation protected

After 20 years of playing music professionally, I figured it was time to produce and record my small catalog of original songs. So I wrangled five of my favorite musicians and dear friends to join me in Bristol, Tennessee in March of 2020 when COVID first inaugurated the halt most artistic endeavors.

We had three days. We recorded exclusively over vintage equipment from the 1940’s and 50s provided by Jon Atkinson, owner and head engineer of Big Tone Records. With each song I hoped to tell a story. They were composed from friend's houses to cafes and, regrettably, a psychiatric ward that I was reluctantly committed to in August of 2019 after battling a disorder in my brain commonly known as Bipolar Manic Depression.

What you will hear is a live band as if we were playing on your porch or in your living room. There are no overdubs. There's absolutely no digital meddling or manipulation of any kind both vocally and instrumentally. My hope is for you to find a phrase or two that speaks to your story.

The project is mastered and the art work, provided by Phil Blank is finished. Your generous contribution will be allocated for the production of cd’s and radio distribution.

Forever grateful,

DL
