Supporting David, Karina, and Baby Julia

The heart behind starting this fundraiser is to come alongside and provide financial support for David, Karina, and baby Julia during this challenging time. Which brings unexpected expenses. Unknown insurance issues. And while David has some paid leave, the extended care his family requires means his paid time off will quickly be exhausted. Leaving him with unpaid leave. WE are looking to raise 10K for them.

Background: On October 9th, beautiful Julia May Johnson was born in Fremont, Nebraska — weighing 6 lbs 13 oz and measuring 21 inches long. During delivery, both Karina and baby Julia faced severe complications. Karina was induced and ultimately required an emergency C-section. When Julia was delivered, she was not breathing and had a very low heartbeat. By God’s grace and the quick action of the medical team, Julia received life-saving treatment — and praise Jesus, she responded! Her motor skills, reflexes, and responses all appear normal despite such a very difficult start to life. Julia was transferred to Omaha Children’s Hospital on October 10th for continued care and monitoring.

Update on Karina as of 10/13: Karina remains in ICU in Fremont. She has been under constant care. Karina has made some improvement. We continue to call out to the LORD to heal her. As I am writing this she is not doing well. However overall today she did do much better. Today the Infectious Disease Doctor said that the blood cultures have not grown/shown anything. Karina's white blood cell count was lower today. The Infectious Disease Doctor/Cardiologist believe Karina possibly could have a blood clot in her pelvic area. But there is no way to test that. Karina's situation remains serious but we remain hopeful and place her in the capable hands of JESUS!

Update on Julia as of 10/13: Julia remains in ICU at Omaha Children's Hospital. Yesterday her blood cultures showed E.Coli of which she is being treated for. She’ll need 10–28 days of antibiotics, she was started on Cefepime antibiotic, today. Her sleeping heart rate has gone down from 113-115 to closer to 100 which the nurse practitioner said means she is feeling better. She’s getting hungrier too, eating more, which they told me also is a sign of feeling better. Thank you LORD!
