Parkinson’s DBS Operation
David K Steely was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2010. Six years later, we now start the process for David to undergo the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), a procedure offered to Parkinson’s patient’s if they are viable candidates.
David’s answer to why…
He prays to have this procedure done.
“I desire a better quality of life!”
David's Neurologist & Neurosurgeon have advised that this procedure WILL allow David to have a better quality of life!
Our family has united in support to this challenge and have set up this fundraiser to help afford the surgery.
The cost for this procedure has been quoted $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 by his Doctors.
We estimate out of pocket expenses to be aprox. $25,000.- $30,000.00 to cover procedure & aftercare.
Our prayer today is that you may be led and become an Angel in David's path by contributing financially in alleviating in the costs for the DBS Procedure.

A Ray of HOPE!
"When you believe in The Creator and in yourself, the wisdom you gain aides in mastering new projects."
David had to start retraining and exercising his skills to eat, walk and do all other things we do in life.
David entered into a rest/restoration season, praying, resting, a new diet plan, and receiving therapy via Home Heath Care.
His whole lifestyle changed!

From laying prostrated in bed and not being able to feed himself, David, in great faith, has faced this challenge head on to "fight the good fight", and started retraining his brain to follow his commands.

Parkinson’s DBS Operation
David was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2010. The initial 18 months were critical. David became lifeless…his body lost all muscle and would cramp up continuously. He was unable to see a doctor at the time because of lack of medical insurance. The company he worked for started cutting his hours until he was dropped to part time status, which in turn, cancelled out his medical insurance.
Angel #1- A dear friend, a nurse, Sister Sheryll, RN, advised David and his wife Jeanne how to take care of David’s needs at home urging them to seek medical advice.
Angel #2- After several months while at work, a neurologist walked up to David and advised him that he could “help” David with the tremors. David let him know that he could not afford a medical visit. To which the doctor responded “just come see me.”
Once diagnosed, the next step was to get him the proper medication to help stabilize the tremors.
Angel #3- A pharmacist became David’s advocate and recommended he call Bridges to Access for assistance, to which David qualified and was approved! The medication was so costly we began to call pharmaceuticals directly to get better prices.
To date monies spent in meds are aprox. $3,000.00, with pharmaceutical assistance.
Inflated cost would be approx. $10,000. - $12,000.00!
This process was the beginning of the critical 18 months!
