Friends,

I am sure many of you know about David Huerta's horrible ordeal. On September 1, David suffered a severe stroke. He was left paralyzed on his right side, had problems with his speech, and his face was also involved. He spent almost eight weeks at Cedars Sinai doing some remedial Physical Therapy, and slowly began progressing. He was actually so determined to get back to normal that he began moving his arm and his leg, and regained his speech. Luckily, he obtained a place at Rancho los AMigos National Rehabilitation for intensive rehab, and he is still there. Since he has been there, he is now able to walk with a cane, even though he does not have full use of his hand or foot. His speech is fine and his mentation is excellent. He still has his wonderful sense of humor! He is most determined to be back to normal!

We all know what a wondrful friend David has been and is to all of us. He always has a special way of making us smile, laugh, and feel good about ourselves. Now that he is unable to work or support himself until he is back on his feet, and he will be, he needs our help right now. He needs to continue intensive PT and has no way to pay for his expenses.
