update 4/6/25- we wanted to let everyone know that David passed peacefully in his sleep today. Thank you everyone who’s prayed for us!
update 3/27/25- David is still fighting, but he’s weak. Please keep his family in your prayers as he is getting closer to passing. He has been unable to eat for 14 days and isn’t really able to drink much.
update 3/19/25- David was moving to a nursing home today. He’s very weak and is sleeping a lot. The facility will be able to better manage his vomiting and make sure he is comfortable.
update 3/16/25- we celebrated an early birthday for Zach and David while his dad was visiting. He was able to have a nice visit with his dad and several of his close friends have been visiting. David’s pain is being managed, but he’s starting to not tolerate his feeding tube. Most likely tomorrow he will be moved to a care facility. Please pray for all of them!
Update 3/5/25- it’s difficult to write this, but David has been sick and most recently with pneumonia. He has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of gastrointestinal cancer and it has spread. At this time, he was able to come home today and has been put on hospice care. They are saying he has 1 to 2 months. We are hoping to raise money to cover any final expenses, cover bills and any monies left over to help Skylar and Zach with any future needs. Please keep them in your prayers as we navigate this difficult time.
update 11/15/23- finally some good news today. He’s been down graded to stage 3. As soon as David has an EKG he can start chemo. As some of you know David had a heart attack several years ago, so doctors need to make sure his heart is in good shape. Once chemo starts he will have 4 rounds, every other week, then surgery in Spokane to remove part of his stomach. Then when he comes home more chemo. Thank you to everyone who has donated, sent thoughts and prayers and offered words of encouragement. It’s all appreciated more than you know!
Update 11/10/23- David meets with the oncologist on Monday and he should start chemo then. He has been in a lot of pain, but the Dr are helping to manage that. Otherwise everything else is settling down a bit and they are getting into a new groove. Thank you to everyone that has donated, it has helped so much! So far the biggest hit has been the protein shakes he needs to drink. He is supposed to drink 5 a day and they are rather spendy. I’ll continue to update as I need to.
Update: 11/6/23- David made it home yesterday. He started making calls to get into chemo, no one in town can get him in u til next week. The Dr in Spokane are trying to help to get him in, if they can’t he may need to go back to Spokane for treatment until Lewiston can get him in.
update:11/4/23- David has had a stint put in his stomach and had a port put in for chemo. According to the nurse, he will start chemo on Monday in Lewiston. He is expecting to be discharged tomorrow and be able to come home. Thank you to everyone who has donated, it all helps!
Hello everyone! I have started this GoFundMe for my daughter and son-in-law and 4 year old grandson, Zachary. David was diagnosed with Adeno Carcinoma in his stomach last week. This is a fairly aggressive form of cancer. Tuesday of this week he was admitted to Sacred Heart Medical Center to have a stint placed in his stomach. When he comes home he will be starting chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and eventually he will have to go back to Spokane to have surgery to remove a portion of his stomach and potentially some of his intestine. David is a veteran of the US Navy. Their medical, travel and lodging costs will be reimbursed by the VA, but at this time he is unable to work and we are unsure of when he will be able to return to work. We are asking for donations to cover their basic living expenses while he undergoes treatment. Thank you!
