David Cousar Emergency Medical Expense Fund
On Saturday (10/10), David Cousar, one of Memphis’ most cherished musicians, suffered a tragic medical emergency. His leg suddenly collapsed under him, resulting in a broken femur and fractured hip. Tests have revealed that bone lesions are the cause of the fall, but as yet, they do not know what is causing the bone lesions. Long story short; David has received several blood transfusions, had fluid removed from his lungs, and is scheduled for extensive leg and hip surgery on Wednesday (10/14). And as you might imagine, there is a lot more testing to be done to find the source of the problem(s).
As a friend and fellow musician said, and we would agree, "(David) is one of the finest guitar players anyone could hope to have with them on stage or in the studio.” However, earning a living as a professional musician is tough under the best circumstances. And this unexpected emergency with the resulting exorbitant medical expenses could, quite frankly, lead to bankruptcy, especially during this pandemic. So even though Dave remains in good spirits and is hopeful, he's in a very dire and painful situation right now, and he desperately needs our help.
David has proudly represented Memphis with his incredible musical talent all over the world, and has been a musician most of his life. He's performed on countless notable recordings and live performances, including a vast array of benefits, charities, and fundraisers for other’s needs. So it is only fitting that we should do everything we can to support him in this crisis.
With hospitalization, testing, surgery, rehab and all the other medical assistance he will need, this will be a very long and expensive recovery. Your kindness and generosity will go a long way in relieving a big part of that burden.
