As many of you know, David was born with a condition called Marfan’ Syndrome. This connective tissue disorder can have a serious effect on the heart and major blood vessels in the body. He was admitted to UF Health, in Gainesville, hospital on May 19, 2025 with an ascending and descending aortic dissection causing loss of blood flow to major organs and the lower half of his body. He was rushed into emergency surgery after being life flighted, to try and restore blood flow to the lower half of his body. Although blood flow has been restored and dissections repaired, David still does not have much movement in his lower half. Small victories are happening everyday with this but the doctors have advised that the recovery of his lower half, if any, would be a long and treacherous battle. Due to the damage to his kidneys, he has been on constant dialysis to try to remove all the damaged cells in his body. The doctors are trying to get him away from this but it is a hour by hour situation. David is looking at another possible open heart surgery in the future due to damage to his coronary artery that has developed an aneurysm. He not only has this hospital journey but it will be followed up with an extended stay in a rehab center for physical therapy to optimize movement in his lower half. Karmel has been by his side every step of the way. Due to David being the sole provider for their family, they will be without income for the next 3 months until disability kicks in.

Anyone who has met David and Karmel know they are strong in their faith, and have been trusting God for a miracle.

We want them to be able to focus on David getting better, and not having to worry about the financial difficulties it may cause. They have 3 amazing boys and many home bills to take care of.
