David Bland, USVI artist, run over in parking lot

David, sole proprietor of Dancing Fools, is a friend, artist, animal lover, free spirit, and kind soul who was recently run over in a parking lot on St. Thomas. He suffered numerous injuries and yesterday had surgery on a compound fracture in his leg. His skull has been split, he lost numerous teeth, he is covered in road rash and two very distinct sets of tire tracks across his torso.

I met David on the water taxi from Water Island to St. Thomas about 10 years ago. I was admiring the sea glass jewelry that he makes with pieces he finds on local beaches. He gave me a pair of earrings with a twinkle in his eye and a knowing grin. We became friends.

Part of David's charm is his free spirit and minimalist lifestyle. He gets joy out of creating beautiful things and making others happy. Most of his medical bills will be covered by Medicaid, but he will not be able to source materials, create jewelry, or get out and about to sell his wares for a while. He just needs enough to cover his daily expenses while he's in the hospital and recuperating. Any amount you can share will be greatly appreciated by this very kind human. Thank you so much. ❤️
