David Bessette's Fight Against His Cancers

Hi everyone. My name is Kayleigh, and I'm a lucky daughter to my father, David. Anyone who has met my father would say he is one of the happiest people they know. He is always kind-hearted and the first one there when someone needs him. He is a massive kid at heart who is always ready to engage with his grandkids. He has taught everyone that no matter what life throws at you, there is always a positive side that can come from it.

That said, I would like to walk you through one of the most challenging journeys he is facing right now. In August 2022, my father attended his grandchild's birthday party; during this party, covid was spread and made many guests sick, including my father. The sickness attacked my father so much that he needed medical attention. This is now considered a blessing in disguise, as during some of the tests they did, they noticed something was off.

Upon further investigation and tests, they realized that my father had stage 3 lung cancer in his lung. Of course, this meant they wanted to do more tests for him to ensure they knew where the cancer was and where they needed to target. During these tests, they realized his lung cancer was in both his lungs and noticed bone cancer in his shoulder. This is extremely hard to bear as a family, knowing that one of the most important people in our lives is battling such a hard illness.

David, of course, has maintained a positive mindset during all this and keeps trying to keep our family laughing and strong. He is experiencing many health issues now and tries to fight through them with jokes or positive comebacks.

With all this going on, he is scheduled to start radiation and chemotherapy at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on December 5th,2022. This brings us to this go fund me page. We are asking family and friends to help us raise money for my father's medical costs and room and board lodge so he can be at ease during treatments and not worry about any cost. He deserves to be at ease from worrying about these things and focus on fighting these two cancers. Help us fight this together. #teamwewillbeatcancer
