David Bass Memorial Fund

Beschermde donatie
The morning of February 5, 2021 David passed away from a rare form of cancer. David was a young man starting out with a new family and had only dreamed of being a devoted husband and a great dad for years to come. He was friends to so many people and always helped anyone in need.  David loved his wife Natalie and their two boys Benjamin and Noah. His faith in God was unshakable, and we can find peace knowing that he is at home, in heaven, in the arms of our Lord Savior.

David was born and raised in New Orleans; graduated from University of New Orleans and worked in the transportation industry. In August 2015 Natalie became an employee at Wesco/Anixter as an administration assistant and the following year, David and Natalie were married. They were both happy with their careers and were ready to start a family. There first son Benjamin was born in 2017 and in March of 2020 Noah was born. Upon release from the hospital in 2020 with Noah, both David and Natalie came down with Covid-19. Although they knew their life was going to be busy with a new born and a two-year-old, they never imagined the difficulty that was ahead of them.  In May of 2020 David’s organization was struggling due to pandemic and David was a part of the company’s cutbacks. Thankfully Natalie was doing well with Anixter and could provide the needs to her new family until David landed somewhere.

In July, David went to the doctor to have a lump removed from his back. It turned out to be cancer; a rare cancer that was typically found in children. By August, they were hoping they had removed all the cancer, however with further tests, the doctors noticed some small spots on his lungs. By October the spots had quadrupled in size and the cancer was back. The cancer was so rare that the facilities in New Orleans nor MD Anderson did not know of any other options other than to keep him on the standard chemo treatments; not much seemed to work. In January the doctors tried immunotherapy. David started getting severe headaches which was originally thought of as side effects of the immunotherapy. On Saturday, January 30, 2021, David was taken to the ER at which time they did a brain scan. The results revealed a large tumor on one side of his brain and the other side had multiple tumors around the brain area. David came home the following Thursday and was placed on Hospice care. Prior to leaving the hospital he was given medication to help with the swelling which would make him comfortable to be sent home. That evening he was alert enough tell his young children he loved them, before slipping into a coma.  The following morning, he passed away.

Because of David’s great love for others, his family and friends are asking that you please consider helping Natalie and the boys, ensuring that David’s legacy endures for many generations. Unfortunately, there are extensive medical bills, kids school tuition, funeral cost and other expenses this young mom and two sons are left with. Any help to this family is greatly appreciated. On behalf of the family, thank you for your help during this difficult time.
