David and Stella both need medical treatment

Donation protected
David and Stella both need some financial assistance as they both need treatment.

For those who know David Hayden, they know that he and his beloved Golden Retriever Stella are inseparable. It is a rarity to see one without the other. In the summer of 2018, David and Stella were taking a long walk together along a beautiful Idaho golf course (walks in nature were common for them), when the unthinkable happened. David suffered a sudden stroke and took a fall into a deep ravine. Stella was determined to get help and remained atop the ravine barking ceaselessly for help until her life-saving call was heard and David was found. When emergency medics got to David, he was unconscious and needed to be lifted from the ravine and rushed to the local hospital. Stella was left at the scene all alone as David was whisked away.

David had suffered a very serious stroke and had remained unconscious for a long time. He had tremendous pressure on his brain and it was determined that he would need life-saving surgery that couldn’t be done where he was. He was stabilized locally and then taken by helicopter to a hospital in Boise where a surgeon was waiting to meet and treat him.  David was experiencing partial paralysis and the pressure on his brain was life-threatening. The surgery was performed as quickly as possible.

Stella, David’s beloved best friend and hero, was found and brought to Boise to be with David after the surgery. They were reunited in the recovery room. She’d been clearly devastated by their separation and was anxious, upset and inconsolable while apart. All knew Stella needed to see David, and needed to know he was ok. This was the longest they had been separated in all of their time together and it was traumatic. The remarkable hospital staff accommodated their powerful and loving reunion.

David has been in physical therapy and rehabilitation since this event last year. He is currently in an assisted living facility in Idaho where Stella lives with him. The situation there is far from friends and family and not ideal, but enables them to be together. Recovery has been challenging for David and, though far too slow for this Dynamic Duo, David has accomplished quite lot. But there is yet a lot to do before the two can go walking in nature together again in nature.

David now has an opportunity to undergo some cutting edge stem cell therapy in Northern California that has been proven to accelerate repair and regrowth of cells. It is experimental and expensive but the results have been astounding in repairing damaged cells in patients like David, thus helping to restore their mobility and their lives. The only thing standing between David and this miraculous treatment is funding and he needs financial help to move forward. If he can raise the required funds by the end of September 2019, he can begin the treatment in October 2019.

Stella also needs some assistance. She needs knee surgery and the vet is urging David to do this as soon as possible. Walking now is quite painful for her, and all are concerned that her condition will worsen due to “overcompensating” for her injured knee.

For Stella and David to have their lives restored, and for David to get back to working and playing and taking nature walks with his best friend, they urgently need some help right now. Any and all financial support to this aim is so greatly appreciated. Your prayers, good intentions, and loving thoughts too are graciously accepted with gratitude and love.
