Hi. MY NAME IS LISA BYCROFT.
My brother and sister in law lost everything in Lismore flood and insurance won’t cover for flooding. They were stuck in roof cavity screaming and banging on roof for help. They were the neighbours of Kate who was on the Today show and she was telling Karl that she could hear the neighbours screaming for help. They had their 2 dogs with them and before water reached to top floor before ceiling, my brother broke a window in case they needed to swim out at the end, but couldn’t at the time as they couldn’t hold on to anything if they went out then and with having 2 dogs, may have been swept away. They went into roof cavity where my brother kept hammering to try and smash through tin roof but wouldn’t budge. They thought they were going to die at the end and then heard a rescue boat outside and decided to dive down into the water inside the house and swam through the dirty water and head for smashed window while holding on to the dogs underwater. Terrifying experience which has left them emotionally distressed but glad to be alive. They had to leave their beloved bird Squeaky in the roof cavity on Monday and on Friday, a person went in for them to check the roof cavity and Squeaky was still alive. That was great news. Any donation would be greatly appreciated to help them rebuild their lives. They would be able to use the money for basic things to get started, but most important they need shelter and a home to live in. Both are aged in their early 60’s and to have to start all over again at their age is heartbreaking. They should be looking forward to retirement and enjoying the freedom of owning their own home but now all that is gone. How do they start all over again. They lost their cars and motorbikes, their home and all their memories in just 1 day
