David and Leona Powell CZU Fire Recovery
Donation protected

CZU Lightening Complex Fire of 2020 has completely destroyed the home and personal assets of David and Leona Powell. With less than an hours notice David, Leona, and one surviving feline, narrowly escaped from the black plumes of toxic smoke and burning fire before their home of nearly 15 years and their way of life was completely consumed by fire. They have lost their; home, furniture, technology, garden, green house, Work Shed including all the tools for Carpentry, solar panels and equipment. What they need is financial support to rebuild the loss of over $40,000 in personal assets as soon as possible.
David and Leona have lived and volunteered from Santa Cruz Mountains to the Sea for over 50 years. 50 years and continuing strong, they are an amazing contribution to our community; showing compassion and leadership through life experience and grass roots support for people and environment.

Both being in their 70's, and with physical limits due to certain disabilities, their goal is to retire in 2021. The tremendous financial burden to replace what is even possible to replace is compounded by age and limited income. This makes the path ahead is full of challenges. Any amount to help support their path forward directly helps David and Leona Powell rebuild their vital personal assets lost in the CZU Lightening Complex Fire of August through September 2020. Your grassroots donation is deeply appreciated and felt on multiple levels bringing hope and emotional support that goes beyond monetary value; the value of community. Thank you.
