David, an officer injured in the line of duty.
Donation protected
John "David" Wynne, a hardworking and upstanding police officer who served for over 26 years in Pearl, Richland, and Hinds County, Mississippi, was injured in the line of duty on September 24th, 2013. During a high-speed chase, David was involved in a car accident, which left him with a traumatic brain injury that permanently altered the way of life for him, his wife, and their three young children.
Despite the daily seizures he experienced after the accident, as well as his inability to perform many daily tasks so many of us take for granted, David defied all odds. While doctors assumed he would only live up to five years after the injury, he managed to surpass such a short timeline.
Unfortunately, twelve years later, on May 30th, 2025, while he was spending a normal night in bed, he experienced a heart attack, which resulted in him losing oxygen for more than four minutes. Paramedics performed CPR for twenty-five minutes, and he continued to code after making it to the emergency room. On June 3rd, he was pronounced brain dead at River Oaks Hospital.
After such a shocking and devastating loss, Courtney, his wife, and his children, John Tyler, Kelsey, and Jake, need help with funeral expenses.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated by the family and friends of this hero in blue. If you're unable to contribute, please consider sharing this fundraiser within your community. Every bit helps!
The funeral will be held on June 6th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence.
