While 6 -year old David Babian was being treated with chemotherapy for violent cancer, his younger brother aged 4 was diagnosed with aggressive cancer which spread to his brain. Now, only special radiation therapy administered abroad can save his life. Please help us save him!
6 -year old David was diagnosed 4 years ago with cancer. During the course of a year he was treated with aggressive chemo. At the end of this year he started running a high fever which continued for half a year. This turned out to be a complication of the cancer which spread to the bone marrow throughout his body. He was treated with more chemo which was then followed by a year and three months of rehabilitation. 6 months ago David began complaining of pain in his ribs. A biopsy showed that the cancer had returned and so he is once again being treated with chemo. Three weeks ago his mother was horrified to discover that something was wrong with her younger son, 4 year-old Abraham. He was rushed to the hospital where both a CT and a MRI confirmed that he was suffering from a rare brain tumor. Abraham underwent complicated neurosurgery and was then hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Unfortunately, the post-op tests showed that part of the tumor still remained in his brain and that only radiation therapy would shrink it. The problem is that that this kind of radiation to the brain can only be administered by proton radiation, particles that can be directed precisely to the affected area without harming the surrounding tissue. Such equipment does not exist in Israel and the only two places to have such equipment are Austria and the United States. The cost of such treatments will reach $200,000.
The “Yad Lehoshit” (extended hand) organization has taken on a campaign to raise the necessary funds to save Abraham’s life and help the family who has tragically found themselves fighting for the lives of their extremely sick children and facing dire financial circumstances while caring for them.
