It is with heavy hearts and humble spirits that we are sharing this with you. Our incredibly dear friend, brother, father and husband Dave has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Dave had melanoma a few years back and we thought it had been put behind us, but that is not the case.
Dave’s melanoma has returned, this time with full force as stage IV brain and lung metastasis which has affected his motor skills, speech and ability to walk. He is on medications to reduce the swelling and help him regain the ability to walk, talk and work, but as you know it can be slow going. He will be going to the Cancer Treatment Center in Phoenix Arizona this week of March 11, 2019 to begin his fight.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, is more intrinsic to our growth, happiness and sanity than family and friends. It takes oceans to admit vulnerability, but it would take a lot more to express the ways in which Dave has shaped the passionate people we all are today. Dave is a genuine emulation of positivity and endurance. He remains an eternal flame of our family’s candle of life. He is and continues to be a constant source of hope, generosity, sincerity, empathy, humor, gratitude, humility and untamed passion that are instilled in each one of us. Dave has worked hard his whole life to provide for his family and his community. We believe in the power of unity, hope and resilience and because we have seen the success of those beliefs in so many other stories, we KNOW there will be success in this one. Thank you everyone, for the support, love and constant positivity that will help us to beat this. Please help us reach our funding goal to help us get the best treatment out there for Dave. Send us every ounce of positivity and love you have. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support we are receiving and look forward to the chance to thank all of you personally. We are forever grateful to this community and this life.
Dave does have insurance which will help, but as you know this goes way beyond insurance. All funds raised will go directly to the medical facilities for his treatments. Once we have all beaten this with Dave, we will raise a pint in celebration. Any remaining funds will be donated directly to the American Cancer Society.
