Davey's Road To Recovery

Donation protected
As many of you already know Davey was involved in a very major car accident last week where he hit black ice around a turn and slid off the main Pelham road coming to pick me up at our work. While off the road he went up an embankment where he struck a tree stump and the car went airborne and on started one hell of a ride. About 50 feet traveling in the air the car came back down and rolled before coming to a stop on its roof. Moments before finally coming to a stop the driver door flew off taking Davey with it. He ended up being thrown 30 feet and landing under the door. After realizing what just happened he started to crawl back to the car screaming for Capo and myself (thinking he had already picked me up), hoping we were alright.

Davey is very well known throughout the community and car scene alike. Anyone that knows him, knows he would give a complete stranger the shirt off his back if they really needed it. Being apart of the car world he was always helping people build and fix their cars. Welcoming friends to come over and hang out in the garage to work on their cars on the lift or give pointers on different things to do. A simple call and he'd be helping fix entire cars just because its something he's passionate for. Whether it be a cook out, bon fire, or hanging out with other close friends in the garage Davey welcomed many into his and his fathers house just to enjoy company from good people.

He also has a 2 year old son, Abel, who is his entire world. Having him a majority of the time the 2 of them spent alot of time in the garage, sitting by the fire or occasionally a nice ride to either enjoy a new view or help Abel pass out in seconds. In just a short time he has learned so much and loves every second of being in the garage with Dad and Uncle Greg. He's an expert in inspecting wheels and tires and loves to leave his literal personal touch half way up the car all the way around it. If he's not inspecting the outside he absolutely LOVES standing on the driver seat pretending to shift and steer the car while looking out the windows smiling ear to ear or laughing his little heart out "talking" to everyone around. The bond they share is the most amazing thing to see and always being around to watch him grow, I have also taught Abel to give noggin like in Finding Nemo when after he bumps my head I say doooooood and he laughs (couple times he's actually headbutt me and after it shocks me he laughs even harder).

After being flown into Lahey Clinic in Burlington MA, he was put into a coma to stabilize him and keep him at bay until he was able to have surgery the next day to repair his spine. They ended up putting 28 screws and some plates down his back to fuse his spine and preventing and nerve damage from occurring. X-rays found that he had 8 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, both femurs fractured, fractured arm and fractured skull. Days after he finds out he's going to need further surgery to help mend his knee which is quite possibly torn muscles.

When Davey was able to crawl back to the car he was met by a fellow driver who arrived moments after the crash. She sat with Dave and Capo while they waited for help. Realizing Capo was also in trouble, they tried to pull him out of the car but he was stuck between the roof and passenger seat. After Dave sat next to him he relaxed a little knowing dad was there and alive. Capo stayed strong and waited and watched while his dad was sped off to meet the helicopter to receive the much needed help that he so desperately needed. Once Dave was gone the attention was turned to getting Capo out and getting him the help he needs. Using the jaws of life they were able to get him free where he was then rushed to Rockingham Emergency Vet. Unfortunately he didn't make it in time and passed in transport. But he knows that dad is getting the help he needed and wasn't able to fight long enough to get help (which at that point one can only wonder how much suffering after the fact he would have to endure). Capo stayed strong as long as he could to help dad get to safety. If you were blessed with the opportunity to have met Capo you'd know that he was the happiest pup who loved chewing his indestructible cog (which apparently indestructible), running around the yard or hanging in the garage with all his friends. His enormous smile, happy feet tapping away or his ever so wiggly butt will be missed by so so many people and I was they could have done more to help you little buddy but I'm just glad you don't have to suffer the emence pain im sure you would have been in. We will all miss you so much and you will forever live on in all of our hearts. May hevan have all the best belly rubs and the best selection of chew toys, I hope you find my pup Jacob and can make the best of friends.

To everyone that has helped or reached out already, from the bottom of our hearts from everyone in Dave's family and mine. We thank you for the blessings and kind words. Its truly humbling seeing the communities come together and join the fight with us.
